Spinal Manipulative Therapy

The spine, the core of our body, is a complex structure that keeps us upright and supports our every move. However, due to factors such as poor posture, sudden movements, or stress, the natural mobility of spinal joints can be disrupted. This condition can lead not only to localized pain but also to muscle tension and nerve entrapment.

Spinal manipulative therapy is a specialized manual therapy technique performed by an expert physiotherapist to restore the normal range of motion in spinal joints. During this treatment, a controlled and rapid thrust is applied to the joints using the hands to help them return to their natural position. The “popping” sound you may hear during the procedure is caused by the sudden release of gas bubbles within the joint and does not indicate any bone-on-bone friction.

The Key Benefits of This Treatment Include:
  • Pain Relief: As joint mobility increases, muscle tension and nerve entrapment that cause pain are alleviated.
  • Increased Range of Motion: By releasing restricted spinal joints, a significant increase in neck, back, and waist mobility is observed.
  • Muscle Relaxation: Tense muscles that react to joint misalignment loosen and relax.
  • Functional Recovery: Limitations in daily activities are eliminated, and overall quality of life is enhanced.

As a physical therapist with a PhD, I determine the most suitable approach for you by conducting a comprehensive evaluation before applying this treatment. Since every patient’s condition is unique, this treatment may not always be appropriate, and in some cases, gentler techniques may be preferred.

Our goal is to help you lead a pain-free and more active life by protecting your spinal health. We look forward to welcoming you to our clinic for more information about your spinal health and for a personalized assessment.
